Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie

When it comes to fruit, cherries are definitely in my list of favorites. And not just because they’re delicious. They contain tons of antioxidants, have anti-inflammatory properties and are low glycemic (won’t spike your blood sugar). In fact, they have a lower glycemic index (22) than blueberries (40) and other stone fruits like peaches and plums (42 and 39).

This makes them a perfect addition to your morning smoothies. Here’s a recipe I use quite often. My family and clients love it, too!

CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRY SMOOTHIE

(vegan + gluten free + dairy free)

Time: 5 minutes
Serves: 1 person

INGREDIENTS: Use organic whenever possible

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 3 scoops USANA Nutrimeal Free (or your favorite meal replacement/protein powder)
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flaxseeds
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao or unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup frozen cherries
  • 2/3 cup filtered water

DIRECTIONS:

Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend on high for 45-60 seconds. Enjoy!

  1. This is my favorite smoothie ever!! I drink it first thing in the morning as I’m driving to work and I’ve gotta say it helps me get through horrific traffic cuz I’ll just sit there and enjoy my chocolate cherry shake….yum yum yum. And…..it keeps me full and satisfied until lunch.
